I thought the ending was brilliantly written, to the point that I was literally crying for a good half hour afterwards. The last time a television show affected me like that was the series two finale of Dance Academy, and before that it had never happened. It's real, powerful writing that can induce that in a person. Judging be the reactions on twitter, it wasn't isolated to just me. As to River Song's presence, it was necessary to the emotional power of the episode, the reminder of her relationship to Amy and Rory. All that said, I agree that the idea of the Angels being able to operate in such a situation is a little ridiculous. Moffat's never gone - as far as I know - into the full science-y fluff ideas behind them, but the idea that they'd be able to move frequently, if at all, in a city like that, even in that age, is ridiculous. Even moreso for the one that originally sends Rory back from the "current" day. I must disagree.
